Info pack regarding the WA Laws
During this consultation period, anyone is able to put in writing their concerns with the laws. As sex workers, we are the experts and most able to see where new laws will create problems or just not be practical. This is an urgent opportunity to identify what you think is wrong with the planned laws BEFORE they become law.

- Media statement from Attorney General Porter - on banning sex work in WA residential areas
All forms of sex work will be banned from residential areas and police will be given expanded powers to shut down illegal brothels under the State Government’s proposed law reforms. Announcing details of the proposed sex industry law reform model, Attorney General Christian Porter said the Liberal-National Government had put community safety first in the drafting of its Bill. The model encompasses licensing issues, prohibits any form of sex work in residential zones, expands police powers to deal with unlawful sex work, controls advertising and includes measures to reduce risks to persons engaged in sex work. “The public expects that no form of sex work should be allowed in residential areas in Western Australia and they expect clear laws and robust powers so police can shut down illegal brothels,” Mr Porter said.
