Scarlet Alliance "Submission to WA Law Reform Committee" 2006

The State Attorney General, Jim McGinty, called for submissions to a Parliamentary Committee in late 2006, to consider future directions for sex industry law reform in that state. The Terms Of Reference for the committee does not include street based sex work, and as such it is questionable if the anti-sex work "Prostitution Act 2000" will be able to be effectively reviewed. Sex work in WA is criminalised, operated under an informal 'Containment Policy' since the 1950's, and includes Move On Notices and Restraining Orders against individuals 'suspected of intending' to work as street based sex workers.
