Ongoing Project Aims
- support the professional development of sex worker peer educators
- ensure the continued recognition of peer educator skills
- ensure the continued assessement opportunities of new assessors
The Initial Project Aims
Development and implementation of a sustainable national training framework for the education staff of sex worker organisations. This is achieved through:- The identification of key areas of member organisations work and the appropriate skills level and standards of sex worker education and staff.
- Development of customised national competency standards and assessment and training resources for educators of sex workers.
- The adaptation and development of assessment and training resources for training and delivery of sex worker educators
The initial project tasks included:
- Establishment of a national advisory group
- Update members
- Consultation process with educators to adapt national community work competency standards and training and assessment resources
- Establish a partnership with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
- Training of a minimum of 10 sex worker educators as nationally recognised workplace based assessors and trainers by RTO
- Workplace assessment of training and educators
- Issuing of qualifications to educators
- Development of an Assessor Guide Applicants Handbook and Assessment Tools
- Sustainability Strategy
